On Friday, the Dominican Republic assumed the pro tempore presidency of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE), for the period 2021-2023, which it will exercise through the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE).

Upon receiving the new responsibilities as co-president of UNIORE, the president of the JCE, Román Jáquez Liranzo, congratulated the outgoing bodies, the National Electoral Institute of Mexico and the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Branch, for the collaboration, cooperation and strengthening of democracy carried out throughout the region with high levels of effectiveness and innovation.

Reform in the consensus process of the Constitutive Act of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations of UNIORE.

The initiative was prompted by the outstanding presentation made by the delegates of the National Election Commission of Korea, Lee Jong-Woo and Kim Yong Hi, in their dual capacity as electoral body and Executive Secretariat of the Working Group for the Establishment of a World Association of Electoral Bodies (A - WEB).

Support the Electoral Tribunal of Panama in the defense of the constitutional principle of the autonomy of the electoral bodies that protects the exercise of their exclusive and excluding powers.

It was agreed to provide all technical support to the Colombian Electoral Bodies to face the challenges arising from the peace process during the regional elections and to declare agreements for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and violence.
