El viernes 26 de marzo de 2021, se llevó a cabo la Reunión Extraordinaria virtual de la Unión Interamericana de Organismos Electorales (UNIORE). En ella, IIDH/CAPEL presentó las actividades realizadas en su calidad de Secretaría Ejecutiva de la presidencia.

On Friday, March 26, 2021, the Virtual Extraordinary Meeting of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE) was held. In it, IIHR / CAPEL presented the activities carried out in its capacity as Executive Secretariat of the presidency.

Subsequently, the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF) represented by the Presiding Magistrate José Luis Vargas Valdez and the National Electoral Institute (INE) of Mexico, represented by the President Counselor Lorenzo Córdova Vianello, announced the work carried out in their quality of pro tempore presidency of the Union during the period 2018-2020.

They highlighted that a series of actions related to electoral observation missions and digitization were deployed. Since October 2018, they noted, 26 Electoral Observation Missions have been carried out. Likewise, in the face of the health contingency in which the world has been for more than a year, the pro tempore presidency sought new forms of participation in electoral observation processes, prioritizing the health of the members of the missions.

On the other hand, in the digital sphere, the presidency of Mexico designed the UNIORE website, http://uniore.org/, as a tool that allows the work carried out by the Union to be brought closer to the public and those organizations that support it. integrate.

Subsequently, representatives of the electoral authorities of Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, El Salvador, the United States of America, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay exposed the difficulties and lessons learned from the electoral processes carried out in their countries during the pandemic.

Finally, the pro tempore presidency of UNIORE was formally handed over for the period 2021-2023 to be held by the Dominican Republic through the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE).

Upon receiving the new responsibilities as co-president of UNIORE, the president of the JCE, Román Jáquez Liranzo, congratulated the outgoing bodies, the National Electoral Institute and the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation of Mexico, for the collaborative, cooperative work and strengthening of democracy that they carried out throughout the region with high levels of effectiveness and innovation.

For his part, the co-president and president of the TSE, Marcos Antonio Cruz García, expressed that they assume the commitment to continue the work and efforts made by the outgoing presidency of Mexico.

In the messages from the new pro tempore presidency of UNIORE, the representatives of the Dominican Republic pointed out that among the lines of action that UNIORE proposes to promote are, first, the strengthening of advanced technical and technological missions in the cases that are necessary, as has been done; second, the observation per se, which is the technical electoral observation and, third, the jurisdictional post-electoral observation, an initiative that began and that it is proposed to continue permanently.

Las organizaciones electorales, mediante un comunicado conjunto, sostuvieron que confían en que el INE atenderá con toda puntualidad y efectividad las resoluciones de las autoridades jurisdiccionales para dirimir la controversia surgida en relación con la Revocación de Mandato, solicitada por el mandatario de esa nación.

JCE President travels to Honduras as head of the UNIORE Observer Mission

The president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, travels to Honduras this Wednesday as head of the Electoral Observation Mission of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE), for the general elections of that country to be held next Sunday, November 28.

Jáquez Liranzo was appointed by UNIORE for the aforementioned purposes and will carry out his observation work in the company of the full member, Rafael Armando Vallejo Santelises, and the Director of Planning and Development, of the JCE, Joel Lantigua.

UNIORE concludes XV Conference with rejection and condemns of attacks on electoral bodies

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.- The XV Conference of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (UNIORE) concluded this Tuesday with the Dominican Republic as host country, an event that coincided with the 30th anniversary of the entity that brings together 33 electoral bodies.

On this occasion, the event was under the pro tempore presidency of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), in a day that included two days of work and that brought together 52 delegates from more than 19 member countries.

Inauguration of the XV UNIORE Conference with DR as host country

Santo Domingo.- The XV Conference of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies (UNIORE) was inaugurated this Monday, an event that coincides with the 30th anniversary of the creation of the entity that brings together 33 electoral bodies, this time with the Dominican Republic as a country host, represented by the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE).

The event, which will take place on November 1 and 2 at the Embassy Suite by Hilton Hotel in the city of Santo Domingo, brings together delegations from more than 19 UNIORE member countries.

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic, represented by the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), will host the XV Conference of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE), which will take place on the 1st and November 2 at the Embassy Suite by Hilton Hotel in the city of Santo Domingo.

Román Jáquez participated as head of the Electoral Observation Mission in Mexico

The pro tempore co-president of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (Uniore) and president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) of the Dominican Republic, Román Jáquez Liranzo, participated as head of the Electoral Observation Mission in the last federal elections process and premises of Mexico City, last Sunday, June 6.
 
Jáquez Liranzo, fulfilled his work of observation in the electoral process where Mexican citizens voted to choose 500 representatives of the Federal Chamber of Deputies, 1,063 deputies, 1,923 municipal presidencies, 2,057 receiverships, 14,222 regidurías, 204 councilors and in addition to the presidencies of 22 municipal boards, 22 receiverships, 88 regidurías and 299 community presidents.
