More than 19 countries will be represented at this two-day event

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic, represented by the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), will host the XV Conference of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE), which will take place on the 1st and November 2 at the Embassy Suite by Hilton Hotel in the city of Santo Domingo.

For this day in 2021, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the creation of UNIORE, there will be 19 delegations from 24 member countries of the body, who will meet at this meeting that aims to solidify and contribute to democracy from the electoral bodies.

To fulfill its objective, UNIORE celebrates its conference with a relevant topic according to the electoral context and panorama. Based on it, agreements are made and recommendations are generated to put into practice in the member electoral bodies.

The opening ceremony will be held this Monday, November 1, at 9:30 in the morning, and will feature the interventions of José Thompson Jiménez, executive director of the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights / Center for Electoral Advice and Promotion of the Executive Secretariat UNIORE; Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, pro tempore co-president of UNIORE and president of the Central Electoral Board of the Dominican Republic; and Ygnacio Pascual Camacho Hidalgo, co-president pro tempore of UNIORE and president of the Superior Electoral Court of the Dominican Republic.

The activity will also feature the presentation of the keynote address "Challenges of Democracy and Electoral Institutionality", by Lorenzo Córdova Vianello, president of the National Electoral Institute of Mexico.

This year the XV UNIORE Conference will consist of 4 plenary sessions, including two panels on "Autonomy and independence of Electoral Bodies and the Importance for strengthening democratic institutions", as well as "Disinformation and its consequences in electoral processes ”, By experts in the field.

The plenaries will be moderated by the pro tempore co-presidents of UNIORE, justices Román Jáquez Liranzo and Ygnacio Pascual Camacho Hidalgo, presidents of the JCE and the TSE of the Dominican Republic, respectively.

They will accompany the president of the JCE, Román Jáquez Liranzo, the titular members Rafael Armando Vallejo Santelises, Dolores Fernández Sánchez, Patricia Lorenzo Paniagua and Samir Chami Isa.

Meanwhile, the president of the TSE, Ygnacio Pascual Camacho, will be accompanied by the members of the Plenary of that high body: Juan Alfredo Biaggi Lama, Rosa Fiordaliza Pérez, Pedro Pablo Yermenos Forastieri and Fernando Fernández Cruz.
