Presidential Elections were held in El Salvador on 7 March 1999.

A non-binding Referendum by which the voters of Puerto Rico will choose their future political status. Voters were provided with several elections among which were Statehood, Independence, Free Association, Commonwealth and None of the Preceding.

The 1998 Venezuelan Presidential Elections took place on Sunday, December 6 of that year with the purpose of electing the President of the Republic for the 1999-2004 period, being the first time that the presidential elections were held separately from the parliamentary renewal (the latter took place on November 8). They were the last electoral process carried out under the guidelines of the 1961 constitution. Under it, the incumbent president could not run for reelection.

The General Elections were held in Brazil on Sunday 4 October 1998, with a second round on Sunday 25 October.

A constitutional referendum was held in Panama on 30 August 1998. Voters were asked whether they approved of amending the 1972 constitution to allow the President to be re-elected.

The second round of the 1998 Presidential Elections was held on Sunday, July 12, 1998.

Parliamentary elections were held in the Dominican Republic on June 30, 1998, in which 149 seats in the House of Representatives and 30 in the Senate were renewed.

General elections were held in Ecuador on 31 May 1998.

On June 21, 1998, the country went to the polls to elect the President of the Republic in two rounds. 

The General Elections held on 10 May 1998 resulted in the election of: President, Vice-president, Senators, Deputies and Departmental Governors.
