Presidential primary elections were held in Uruguay on 28 June 2009 in order to nominate the presidential candidate for every political party.

In this election, 1,590 popularly elected posts were elected, including President and Vice-President of the Republic, 20 Deputies to the Central American Parliament, 71 Deputies to the National Assembly, 75 Mayors, 623 Representatives of county councils, and 6 Councillors, all with their respective substitutes.

The Municipal Elections of El Salvador 2009 were held on Sunday, January 18. The elections defined the Municipal Councils of each of the 262 municipalities. The voting coincided with the same year that the Presidential Elections were held.

The 2009 Legislative Elections of El Salvador were held on Sunday, January 18. The elections defined the deputies for the Central American Parliament, the local Legislative Assembly. The voting coincided with the same year that the presidential elections were held.

In the Primaries held on November 30, 2008, the two presidential candidates were chosen, as well as the members of Congress, the Mayors of the 298 municipalities and the 20 Deputies of the Central American Parliament.

Municipal Elections in Nicaragua were held on Sunday, November 9, 2008. These elections allowed the election of Mayors, Vice mayors and Councilmen for 146 municipalities.

The Puerto Rico General Election of 2008 were held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 to elect the officials of the Government of Puerto Rico that would serve for the next four years, most notably the Governor of Puerto Rico.
